The Lake

Lake Depths

Swan Lake is a 407 acre lake located in Columbia County. It has a maximum depth of 82 feet. 

Swan Lake Public Boat Access

Public Boat Access has designated accessible parking. The boarding dock, and route of travel to it, is ADA accessible. No power loading.

Fishing

Fish include Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Walleye. 

Fish Stocking Update - In 2025, the WDNR released approximately 3000 6” – 9” fingerling walleyes and 16,000 1" - 2"  walleyes into Swan Lake.

Swan Lake Wildlife Area

Swan Lake Wildlife Area is a 2,466-acre property located one mile east of Portage off Highway P in Columbia County. The property consists of approximately 1,416 acres of wetlands, 92 acres of grasslands and 410 acres of forested habitat.

The Fox River flows through the Swan Lake Wildlife Area in a northwesterly direction from Swan Lake on the east. The property was designated as a wildlife area in 1963.

Buoys

These buoys are placed throughout the lake to indicate the 100-foot mark from residents’ docks.  

This is a visual reference on how far boats should stay away from piers. 

Watercrafts are not supposed to drive faster than a NO WAKE SPEED when traveling within the 100-foot mark.
